Cantieri del Mediterraneo in Bussana (Imperia) are back to work and are welcoming their first 50-metre super yacht, after having completed the first part of protective and restructuring works.

The shipyard, located in Bussana near Capo Verde, opened in the 1960s and was purchased by the Amerio family who initially used it for building new yachts, including the first 35 Amer and, afterwards for refitting vessels.

Recently the Maggiali family stepped into the company, who shares, in addition to a passion for boating and the sea, a strategic industrial vision regarding the reinforcement of boating services for the super yacht segment, training, and increasing specialised trades for large hulls in composite and metal around the Cote d’Azur and Western Liguria.

To increase production over these last few months, significant investments have been made. Firstly, in technology, like the purchase of a 430 tonne travel lift, which was tested over the last few days and towed in the first 50 metre vessel, inaugurating the season. There were also structural investments, regarding functional spaces for groundworks. This expansion was made possible thanks to partnerships with institutes.

Cantieri del Mediterraneo is also focusing on, in the short term, a significant investment to further increase the potential of the facility, further improving the area and considerably increasing downstream industry through the use of local tradespeople.
