The Lusben shipyard in Varazze has completed their refit of the m/y “Far Far Away”, a super yacht designed by Inace Yachts and delivered to its owner in 2012. “Far Far Away” was entrusted to Lusben in November 2019, for important structural work, starting from an innovative and ambitious design for lengthening the hull, changing its length from the original 36.7 metres to 46.2, thanks to the addition of an 8-metre module at midship, the extension of the aft beach area by 1.50 metres, and of the forward fin keel by approximately 1.50 metres.

The addition of the module, completed by the Lusben carpentry team, also allowed for the complete renewal of all the systems on board: diesel lines, electrics, safety systems, including the installation of a new watertight door integrating with the current management system.

Among the other significant changes are the installation of 9-square-metre cold stores, an additional 5-thousand-litre tank for fresh water, and two 15-thousand-litre diesel tanks, for a total capacity of 90 thousand litres of fuel. The refit design also included the addition of a 9-square-metre laundry room, replacing the gyrocompasses with a satellite and a mechanical system and the addition of a thermal camera for night vision.

In addition to this are also two new CAT 99Kw generators, the installation of two 60 Kw Twin Stern Thrusters and the upgrade of the 90 Kw Bow Thruster. A new four-compressor air conditioning system has also been added, as well as a new technical monitoring system for loading and refuelling.   Refitting the “Far Far Away” also included completely re-varnishing the hull and superstructure, the installation of electronic navigation equipment, the complete renovation of 4 guest bathrooms and the transformation of the original laundry room into a storage room.

Thanks to these and many other modifications, requiring 14 months of work, the autonomy of the m/y “FFA” has nearly doubled, reaching 8 thousand nautical miles, so much so that the super yacht is now able to go on a three month cruise without having to stop in a port. This important and significant work led to the yacht achieving dual certification, allowing it to now be used for both private and commercial use.

The extension of the hull has also increased the volume of the vessel, mainly in the guest areas, with an expansion of the cabins and a change from the original 10 passengers in 5 cabins plus 8 crew members, to the current 12 passengers (for commercial use) and 15 passengers (for private use) in 7 cabins and 8/9 crew members.
