A devastating fire erupted on the night of 30 May at the Marina Kastela in Spalato, Croatia. The flames destroyed 5 yachts, spreading quickly from one vessel to the next.

The fire broke out around 20:30 and, according to initial reports issued by the local media and the owner of the marina, Josko Berket, began on board one of the yachts. The crew members immediately went to work to try an put out the fire, without, however, moving the boat away from the other docked vessels, and without wetting those nearby.

It appears to have been the docking ropes that, according to the owner of the marina, spread the fire from one yacht to the other, until it destroyed 5 vessels. All the crews were evacuated and no injuries were reported, but the damages amount to millions of euros.
