Original space solutions, sophisticated materials and advanced technology for the luxury 18-metre vessel

Original space solutions, sophisticated materials and advanced technology for the luxury 18-metre vessel

3 minutes of reading

The external lines of the S6 Azimut Yachts, designed by Stefano Righini, is similar to a  coupé, with sporty lines: large windows on the deckhouse in a diamond cut (meaning on slightly different planes and joined diagonally), the bow plate is on a trapezoid-shaped bow, with streamlined windows on the hull.

The interiors, designed by Francesco Guida, working with the shipyard for the second time, stand out instead for a “cosy minimal” style, minimalist yet sophisticated in the attention to detail and choice of materials. Functional and comfortable spaces, where wood reigns queen, as it should be for any luxury vessel: light and dark durmast, coordinated with the candour of vertical beams and false ceilings, to the steel frames, and original geometric patterns, with a polished finish, white cotton and blue velvet upholstery. Everything is further softened by indirect lighting, studied to make the spaces look larger.

ORIGINAL SOLUTIONS

The layout includes a large day area with a dining table, sofa and entertainment area, a night area below deck with three cabins and two bathrooms and a crew cabin in the bow. The owner’s cabin (with an original king-size bed in an oblique position leaving more space to move around) and VIP cabin are located in the centre of the boat, where the hull is wider and higher.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN

On the main deck of the S6 Azimut Yachts, just like in the latest generation of sports vessels, is the outdoor kitchen, which reflects style details from the interior: light-veined wooden doors, Lapitec worktops – sintered stone slabs created by putting mixtures of natural raw materials under high temperature and pressure – in dark brown, with an irregular surface recalling natural stone, with an integrated sink and hob.

A solution inspired from the interior design industry, perfect for the marine environment given its resistance to light, weather, temperature changes, and salt air. The reduced engine room, with three D8 model Volvo IPS700 motors, leaves space for a large garage, ready to house a tender up to 3.3 metres in length a Pirelli J33 – Azimut Special Edition in two different colours, Burgundy Charm and Grey Elegance).

CARBON TECH

The hull of the S6 Azimut Yachts uses a large amount of carbon fibre, chosen for the construction of the superstructure, of the stern bridge, the garage, the convertible roof and part of the decks. The shipyard in Avigliana has its own in-house “post curing” furnace, which processes the material at 60°C, stabilising it.

For the lamination of all the large surface areas, both in carbon fibre and fibreglass, simple vinylester resin was used, applied to the outer skin and in the infusion cycle. A process which adds lightness to the structural materials, and resistance over time.
