During the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024, Magazzù shipyard premiered their new Magazzù M-16, an exceptional maxi-rib with a D-shaped tubular system representing the apex of innovation and design. The Daily Nautica team had the opportunity to go on board and share with you its main characteristics and strong points.
The Exterior
Magazzù M-16 is striking for its elegant and decisive profile: its clean fluid lines catch the eye, but it is the innovative walkaround layout that is fascinating. With an overall length of 16.7 meters, a 4.75m beam, and a D-shaped tubular system in high performance closed cell foam, this maxi-rib has ample exterior space, perfect for living on board.
The entire vessel is built using high quality materials, from the F155 polyurethane coating to the Hypalon Neoprene Orca textile, which are not only beautiful, but long lasting and weather resistant. Thanks to the rigid tubes, there is a generous amount of space on board, and we notice that immediately when stepping onto the aft platform, with its large sun lounge.
Two large lateral passages lead to the central cockpit, which includes a refined and convivial dining area, which can easily accommodate up to eight people. Details, like the ergonomic seats with reversible back, have been designed to be very practical as well as beautiful.
The cooking area includes a stove, sink and fridge, all stowed safely for anyone wanting to get a drink while sailing, thanks to the swimrails all around the boat. On the other side of the cooking area, under the elegant T-Top, are three reversible seats with the console on the right. The large front windscreen offers exceptional visibility even above and protects from the wind. At the rear of the T-Top is an electric awning which can be extended to shelter the dining area on sunny days.
To the left of the pilot house is the access below deck, while continuing along the lateral passageways you can access the bow with no steps or other impediments; this is a fundamental aspect for safety and practicality on board.
Something interesting is how the fore tubes are “dug in” to the sides, a decision made by the Magazzù shipyard in order to free up space, leaving space for the interior windows, which can look over the water rather than the gunwale. Thanks to this design choice, the yard was able to extend the swimrail from the stern, keeping passengers on board even safer.
To the fore is a large sun area, with space for the hatch to the cabin and a comfortable chaise longue to the bow, offering a great view of the water, both when sailing and at anchor.
The Interior
The interior of the M-16 is a perfect balance between elegance and functionality, designed to offer a luxury boating experience. Below deck is accessed with five steps to the left of the console. The two night areas have high-end materials and a refined finish, transforming this into a welcoming and relaxing space. The transformable dinette is versatile, working as a social area by day and additional guest bed by night.
The separate bathroom has been carefully designed: on one side of the corridor is the shower and on the other the sink and toilet, guaranteeing privacy and comfort. The main cabin can, upon request, be closed off for increased privacy, while the other bed, located under the staircase, has a window.
The entire interior space is flooded with natural light thanks to the large windows and innovative tube layout, allowing passengers to enjoy the view from inside. Each element can be personalised, from finishes to textiles, making the M-16 a bespoke gem for its owner.
Engines available and conclusion
The Magazzù M-16 is a yacht that excels in performance and innovation. Equipped with Volvo Penta diesel engines and IPS800 system, this model can reach a maximum speed of 40 knots, offering power, efficiency and impeccable sailing. The IPS system, known for its manoeuvrability and reduced consumption, makes the M-16 perfect for anyone wanting great performance without compromising on quality.
Capable of holding up to 20 passengers while sailing, and to accommodate at least four for the night, the white cushioning, light wood, teak and wooden details along the gunwale of this maxi-rib give the Magazzù M-16 a refined and airy spirit with a sporty and aerodynamic design. The Magazzù M-16 is a perfect fusion of “dolce vita” and the adrenalin of a sport rib.
