Having overcome the recent complicated period with “faith, tenacity and hard work” Cantieri Navali Codecasa is continuing its business with the construction of the new mega yacht, Costruzione 127, 58 metres of overall length, for delivery in spring 2023.
This is an on spec design, meaning there is no specific client, with its bold design and advanced performance, honed by the shipyard’s technical team, managed by the engineer, Gianluca Imeri, in partnership with the engineer, Pierluigi Ausonio.
Costruzione 127, demonstrating the courage and entrepreneurship of the Tuscan brand, stands out for its fast displacement hull, typical of military vessels, capable of reaching a maximum speed at light displacement of approximately 21 knots. A considerable pace for a yacht of that size, in particular considering its hull is in steel.
“In developing the preliminary draft of the hull – explains engineer Imeri – we kept into account the favourable effects obtained through the use of aft supports like the Transom Wedge. Our attention then focused on the shape of the bow, opting for a vertical prow lengthening the water lines of the hull itself. We then evaluated the hypothesis of building a forward fin keel with only a lateral development, by that I mean in width.
“In order to confirm the favourable effects overall – notes the engineer – we carried out CFD simulations (Computational Fluid Dynamics), using the most refined version available, using the RANSE (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations) approach. After the first encouraging results, Cantieri Navali Codecasa gave SVA from Potsdam the job of testing the 1:9.5 scale model (approximately 6 metres long) in their ship model basin.”
“The towing and self-propelled tests – concludes Imeri – supplied us with even more positive data on the entire range of its speed, especially regarding the values around the 20 knot target.” Propulsion will be guaranteed using two main 3516E 2525kW Caterpillar engines, with an autonomy of over 6 thousand miles at a speed of 12 knots.
Costruzione 127 will also have a large external areas, with an aft beach area equipped with a collapsible door transforming it a beach, an exercise areas and a pool on the sundeck. The interior layout, designed by M2Atelier, includes an owner’s suite and five guest cabins, in addition to a day area and space for the crew, including a cabin for the captain and six double crew cabins.
