Project Reverie by Oceanco, concept by the London-based studio, Winch Design for the Dutch shipyard’s Simply Custom range, is an 80-metre superyacht with an expressive design, inspired by nature, and in particular by the organic transformation of rocks through water as they turn into pebbles. The smoothness of stones tumbled by the sea is seen in the singular silhouette of the vessel, developing over three decks. “A daydream”, according to its creators, transmitting the calm and elegance of natural landscapes.
PROJECT REVERIE: CUSTOMISATION ACCORDING TO OCEANCO
Resulting from Oceanco’s Simply Custom design platform for yachts over 80 metres, which simplifies the building process in response to the increasing demand for personalised vessels, without overlooking their technical-innovative skills acquired over the years, Project Reverie stands out fro the harmonious fusion of softness and sculpting, purity and innovation.
“Our duty as designers – explains Jim Dixon, manager for the Yacht and Aviation department at Winch Design – is to inject inspiration and innovation into the proposals we create to satisfy all of the client’s needs. In our office overlooking the Thames, for Project Reverie by Oceanco we were inspired by the serene beauty of a motorboat, as comfortable as a slipper, and by the natural allure of the pebbles smoothed by the water. It is always the most simple things that leave the longest lasting impression, becoming fundamental for strong and pure concepts, according to our approach to design, which makes us stand out.”
The interior and exterior spaces are in an interlaced open plan, created to support the dynamic and transformational lifestyle – a fluid lifestyle – of new boat owners, who are demanding in aspects regarding comfort, in addition to technical performance. A common theme in the design is the concept of “beach & wellness”, developing over three levels, with a large spa and gym and direct access to the water on the lower deck, connected to the shaded pool and bar to the stern.
A partially enclosed “pool lounge” increases sociability for the people on board, allowing fresh air to flow freely, and, consequently, reducing the need for air conditioning in the internal areas. The owner’s suite to the bow, opens out over the surrounding seascape with a panoramic view, and is also equipped with a private terrace and pool. The layout can be personalised, with a private living room, and reserved deck for laying in the sun. A bedroom/living room combination is also available for guest suites, to whom is dedicated another day area on the forward upper deck.
A lot of care has been taken in being environmentally friendly, in choosing materials and internal finishings: in place of expensive wood is, for example, are sustainable maple or Tesumo, worked to create the same level of elegance.
