The weather-marine forecast over The Mediterranean Sea for Easter day
Meteorological Spring will show its dynamic and variable face on the Mare Nostrum, with still a typically Atlantic imprint on the West and the first warm calls on the East
Meteorological Spring will show its dynamic and variable face on the Mare Nostrum, with still a typically Atlantic imprint on the West and the first warm calls on the East
After the perturbed passage which interessed principally Central and Western Mediterranean between March 26th and 27th, the vast depression area located off the Ireland coasts with a minimum of 985hPa, will tend to extend along the meridians.
Therefore we expect climate still unstable during Easter holidays, mostly between the Balearic Islands and the Gulf of Lion, with a progressive increase in temperature and pressure values towards the East. In fact a recall of warm air masses from the South will be favored, which will more directly affect Central-Southern Italy and the Eastern Mediterranean.
So we expect still moderate or strong winds from the West over the Western Mediterranean, in particular over the Alboràn Sea and off the Balearics, Corsica and Sardinia, where the seas will be slight, moderate or rough. Gradual weakening and rotation of the winds from the South proceeding towards the East, with progressive attenuation of the wave motion, up to weak winds of variable direction on the Aegean, with the exception of the Adriatic, where we will have a reinforcement of Sirocco, with the sea still locally moderate.
Therefore meteorological Spring will show its dynamic and variable face on the Mare Nostrum, with still a typically Atlantic imprint on the West and the first warm calls on the East. So the first boat trips will be favored in the Central-Eastern Mediterranean, somewhere else it will be necessary deal with a still unstable atmosphere, with possible showers and/or thunderstorms, gusts of wind and reinforcement of the wave motion. However, the general situation is susceptible to changes and will therefore need to be constantly monitored.
As the summer approaches, the attraction of a pleasant boat trip consequently will increase. However, remember always to follow the bulletins for the Mediterranean, which during the transition seasons is seat to important temperature and pressure contrasts, which can give rise to adverse weather and sea conditions.
