The Lagoon shipyard premiered, during their Exclusive Days in Bordeaux, their first unit of the innovative Lagoon 60. Announced during last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, this catamaran stands out for its collapsible aft gunwales, expanding the available surface area.
During the event were present a select number of clients and, naturally, Lagoon dealers, including Simone Morelli, who has been European Best Dealer for four years with his company, NSS Yachting. “This new 60 – explains Morelli – stands between the 55 and Sixty5, integrating the range in that luxury segment where the shipyard is gaining traction on the market.”
The sea trials will take place in Palma de Majorca in June, while the world premiere for the general public will take place during the Cannes Yachting Festival, from 10 to 15 September. From 19 to 24 September, the vessel will be on display at the Genova International Boat Show. In addition, the shipyard may be contemplating a “Summer Tour”, in which the new 60 will be presented during open days in some of the main tourist ports of the Mediterranean, including Cala dei Sardi in Sardinia, the only place where visitors can see and test the entire range of Lagoon catamarans, from the 40 to the Seventy7.
“The philosophy behind this new model – notes Morelli – follows on the concept of creating a terrace on the water, expanding the aft living space thanks to the innovative collapsible gunwales. The Lagoon 60 stands out for having solutions that make life on board extremely comfortable, like being able to access the forward sofas by passing through the dinette.”
“Mainly – continues Morelli – there are two versions of this model. In the owner’s layout, the kitchen is on one of the two hulls, leaving the living area free, while in the 5-cabin layout, it is more classic. The 27m2 flybridge, like for all the Lagoons, is the command area, with all the manoeuvring equipment on hand, but it is also a space for privacy and relaxation, thanks to the large saloon and sun lounge.”
During Lagoon’s Exclusive Days, NSS Yachting also concluded the sale of the first unit on the Italian market, with delivery planned for 2025. The launch of the 60 is an important achievement for Lagoon, who are celebrating their fortieth birthday this year: with nearly 7000 catamarans built, Lagoon is a world leader in the cruising catamaran sector, and is a symbol of excellence, comfort and seaworthiness.
