From Tuesday 8 to Sunday 13 September, the 43rd edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival will be held. Traditionally the first event in the boating calendar and this year, the first international boat show to reopen after the lockdown caused by the Coronavirus emergency.
The large French expo will showcase, both on land and sea, 400 vessels, ranging from 3 to 43 metres, sail and motor, monohull and multihull, stiff and semi-stiff keels, coming from some of the most important brands in the international boating industry, also including a number of international premiers.
Strictly enforcing hygiene protocols, all units present will be divided over the two ports of the city, the Vieux Port and Port Canto: the first will house motor boats and the luxury and lifestyle sectors in the Luxury Gallery, the second will be dedicated to the sailing industry and will showcase a wide range of water toys.
CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL 2020: TWO EXTREMELY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
The reopening of this edition of the festival has been possible thanks to two elements: the government’s green light and the acquisition of the “Safe & Clean” certification from APAVE.
On 27 July, Franck Riester, deputy minister for the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, confirmed that professional events, expos, trade shows and conference can recommence from 1 September, without any maximum limit of visitors but in full respect of social distancing.
In addition, thanks to the General Plan for Health Safety (PGSS), implemented with the aim of allowing for the reopening of the show in the best health conditions possible, the event is the first to have obtained “Safe & Clean” certification, created by APAVE on 18 May, in response to the unprecedented health crisis we are currently facing.
Created to help both public and private bodies, this new certification audits the correct implementation of health measures established to fight the spread of Covid-19 and, as a consequence, aims to reassure visitors and exhibitors about the festival’s ability to welcome them in safe conditions in line with current standards.
Not only but the PGSS responds in a precise and effective manner to the requirements, from respecting social distancing to cleaning and hygiene, new protection processes caused by any form of contact (circulation, payment, suppliers etc.) to the communication of key indicators. To this is added a nominated person of reference to monitor the correct application of the health protocol both before and during the show, a protocol which will obviously be modified based on measures enacted by the government regarding trade events.
“The health safety of our exhibitors, visitors and employees – explains Sylvie Ernoult, director of the Cannes Yachting festival – is at the heart of our concerns, this year more than ever. We want to welcome them and allow them to visit the show with peace of mind. For us it is important that the health protocol which we have been working on over a number of months has been certified “Safe & Clean” by APAVE, to strongly demonstrate our hard work and reassure our clients.”
“Our work as event organisers – highlights Ernoult – leaves no space for improvisation and we work in the best way possible to make sure that visiting the show happens under the best conditions. Visitors and exhibitors can therefore fully and safely enjoy the Yachting Festival, which promises to once again be captivating with a number of premiers to discover.”
