After the official design presentation in February, Baglietto have shared a new video of the innovative Observation Yacht X50, a part of the XO range, a name chosen by the shipyard because the yachts in this series are more than just explorers, but represent a new way of observing a voyage in an extraordinary manner.
A distinctive element of the design, which has no competitors on the market, is the Observation Deck located above the wheelhouse, a special and unique space with a full view of the surrounding landscape.
A SPACE FOR EXCITEMENT
The Observation Deck becomes, therefore, a space for entertainment, that breaks up the monotony of long voyages. Rows of large windows provide a 360° view, while the central skylight gives a perfect view of the starry night sky. Inside is a “visual room”, a room filled with comfortable cushions and sofas to snuggle into even on the coldest days without missing out on the magic of the voyage.
In front of the lounge are 6 large monitors, each one independent from the other, so they can be used singularly. Each monitor can be used separately with headphones, or together as a group: just like on a plane, passengers can watch a movie, listen to music, check the itinerary, or get a first hand view of the ship thanks to a drone providing a bird’s eye view.
INSPIRED BY THE TRAIN INDUSTRY
Creative inspiration often comes from diverse places and XO’s comes from the train industry, in particular in the famous ETR 300 “Settebello”, which, in the second half of the 1950s, revolutionised the concept of trains with its innovative style solutions, and the conductor located above the passengers, so first class could enjoy a panoramic view below. XO, inspired by these elements, flips them around: the command area remains on the upper deck, while passengers have a dedicated space above.
A “WORKING VESSEL” WITH STYLE
Although at first glance, this yacht breaks with the traditional styles of Baglietto yachts designed by Paszkowski Design, it does, in fact, have a number of the brand’s trademarks. The vessel has 2 CAT C32 engines, pushing it to a maximum speed of 16 knots. In addition, it maintains the characteristics of a “working vessel”, but with style: the sober flybridge and row of windows offering a 360° view on the upper deck, calls to mind the T52’s veranda that opens on three sides; this is also the inspiration for the main deck.
Even the hull is inspired by the T52, designed for transoceanic navigation. The bow in particular, has a solid “cut” to allow space for ropes and crew manoeuvres during extreme weather. Safety is also important in the choice of creating large spaces for the tenders chosen specifically for sailing in difficult waters.
Also of note is the stern, accessed via a large passageway. A central, glassed in hold door allows for access to this multi-use space, with a gym that can be used during navigation and a spacious garage that can be used to store outdoor furniture (when the tenders are on board) or, for example, bicycles (when the tenders are in the water).
The use of “ceramic” materials with a reduced environmental impact, solar panels on the roof of the flybridge (for use in recharging the many toys on board) and the choice of using specialised paints are all elements that showcase the company’s care for the environment. The range offers a number of configurations ( in particular for the stern which can easily host up to two large tenders) and different colours.
“Yet again – says Fabio Ermetto, CCO for Baglietto – we wanted to create something new and technologically advanced. The X50 is a yacht with a distinctive personality, made for clients who love essential sailing and participating fully in the intimate and exciting discovery of travelling.”
