How is a 142-metre giga yacht born? Sharing this story is the German shipyard, Lürssen Yachts, who created a video summarising everything up to the launch of the Nord, their new giga yacht that left the shipyard on 19 February for its first few miles at sea.

Nord, whose original project name was Opus, is a 142 metre long vessel, which has just finished being built in the Lürssen shipyard. The exterior design is by Nuvolari Lenard, who also curated the interiors. Up to 36 passengers can sleep over on the yacht, in 20 cabins.

THE GIGA YACHT THAT LOOKS LIKE AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER

Its bow looks like that of an aircraft carrier. Indeed, on the main deck is one of the two helicopter landing pads. The second, complete with retractable hangar for the aircraft, is at midship. The yacht is made up of 5 decks and the stern area is reserved for the pool and beach club.

Lürssen Yachts is specialised in building ships, with head offices in Bremen-Vegesack, in northern Germany. Its pride and joy is the construction of luxury yachts and military ships, including the schnellboote built for the  Kriegsmarine during the Second World War.
