Docked at the Magazzini del Cotone in the Porto Antico of Genova for only a few hours, the mega yacht, Jester has already attracted the attention of enthusiasts and passers-by.
It is a 70 metre expedition yacht, built by Oy Laivateollisuus, in Finland, in the Turku shipyard, and delivered to its owner in 1972. The yacht was then fully refitted in 2011 by Rouvia Road Yacht Design, who also curated the interior and exterior design. Before going by the name of Jester, it was known as the Valerian Albanov.
On board the Jester, flying a Jamaican flag, 10 passengers can enjoy 5 comfortable cabins, including a master suite, a VIP cabin and three double cabins. Another 8 cabins are reserved for the 26 crew members, who take care of the passengers throughout the entire cruise. To further improve comfort during navigation, there is an ultramodern stabilisation system to reduce rolling. The yacht is also equipped with stabilisers that reduce the wake effect when at anchor.
Propulsion is through two diesel Deutz engines (RBV 6M 358) of 2,000 HP each, with a single propeller, allowing the vessel to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 12 knots. Autonomy is estimated at 15 thousand nautical miles, thanks to its 325 thousand litre fuel tanks. Before raising anchor, 110 thousand litres of fresh water can be stored in its onboard tanks.
