Work on the S501 picks up again after being forced to slow down because of lockdown in Italy – the fifth design in the Tankoa fleet and third hull of the series completely made in aluminium. The construction of the S501 began on spec and the sale took place in March 2020, just before the Coronavirus crisis began in Europe. The project is a partnership between  Bintador and Vertige

Designed by Francesco Paszkowski, the 50 metre mega yacht has a very similar layout to its predecessors, but with two important differences: the stern area of the main deck is exclusively dedicated to an enormous lounge for relaxing, with a dining area on the top deck, while the master stateroom on the bow has a private reception room that can be converted into another cabin with bathroom.

“Even though we were forced to stop working for two months – explains Giuseppe Mazza, sales manager for Tankoa –  construction is now going full steam ahead. Construction work is 75% complete and we are recovering the lost time with the aim of delivering the yacht by the end of the year, in order to allow the owner to use it in the Caribbean.”

In the shipyard located in Sestri Ponente, Phase 2 has begun. “We have started working again – notes Mazza – adopting the new government protocols and placing at the forefront, with no compromise, the health of our workforce”.

The S501 will stand out because of its surprising black hull with its superstructure in metal grey. Painting the sides has been completed and the shipyard plans to finish varnishing the entire yacht by mid-June. The outfitting of the exclusive interior design by Casadio Miami, an American studio with years of experience in the residential, aeronautical and nautical sectors, will begin soon.

Work is also continuing on the three sub-500GT decks. The piping system is 80% complete, the same goes for the installation of onboard equipment and devices. Heat and sound insulation is at 90%, however. Regarding the laying of the teak, the slats have been cut and are currently being placed.

Powered by traditional diesel engines, the S501 can reach a maximum speed: of 17.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
