Sanlorenzo are exhibiting at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024, running until 28 September, with two of their most revolutionary models, the 50Steel and the SP110. Yet again, the Italian shipyard is bringing to the most prestigious international super yacht boat show, their best innovation, not just in technology and engineering but also in design, showcasing their strong point in sustainability and cementing their role as pioneers in the boating industry.

The 50Steel

A 50-metre displacement yacht with steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the 50Steel perfectly embodies Sanlorenzo’s skill in leading innovation in the industry, embracing the latest solutions in design, technology and sustainability. With this model, the shipyard is introducing a unique product, marking a milestone in the boating industry’s technological progress, reaching a new and important objective for the company as it aims for carbon neutrality.

Thanks to their exclusive agreement with Siemens Energy, the 50Steel is the first super yacht in the world to use the Reformer Fuel Cell system with green methanol to produce electricity. This completely carbon neutral system, significantly increases the amount of time in roads without needing to use diesel, covering 90% of the average use time of a superyacht with zero emissions, reducing emissions annually by 20-30%. For this revolutionary solution, the yacht has received SEA Index certification from Yacht Club Monaco and Credit Suisse in partnership with Lloyd’s Register, which is awarded for energy efficiency and the environmental impact of a vessel.

But there is much more to the 50Steel, because this model also introduces another innovation which will mark boating history: the Hidden Engine Room (HER) system. A revolutionary patented concept by Sanlorenzo, the HER system creates a new space for the engine room. From the two levels it usually covers, the engine room becomes a horizontal space for propulsion and offers a new layout for the technical area under the lower deck. In this manner, new space is created on the lower deck, creating more precious living space.

Lastly, the 50Steel also introduces a new interior design: covering five staggered decks, the layout reduces partitions and barriers, creating airy spaces open to the exterior. Each of the decks has two levels, a solution with is very different from the traditional division in vertical decks, offering a new horizontal perspective and unexpected connections. The overall effect is that of a single large space, which, thanks to the large windows, it is in constant communication with the outside and the water. However, this breakthrough interior architecture is practically invisible from the outside, which has a clean and essential design, in classic Sanlorenzo style.

The SP110

Launched in 2022, the SP110 is the new open coupé which has opened Sanlorenzo to sports yachts, with an evolved and revolutionary solution that combines their unmistakable Italian design with high-end performance and sustainability. With this design, the yard have taken a further step forward in research and development for technology with a low environmental impact.

The first yacht of the SP (Smart Performance) range, the SP110 guarantees high performance with maximum energy efficiency thanks to a fractioned propulsion system made up of three engines with an optimal weight-power ratio, providing flexibility, reduced consumption and a different level of autonomy depending on the speed desired. In addition, it is equipped with an energy recovery system using high efficiency microcrystalline 6kW solar panels, alongside a lithium battery pack allowing the vessel to power hotelier services for hours without needing to use the generators.

This model is a yacht with two decks and a brand new layout, with extremely large surfaces that can be used in various ways, for incomparable liveability both inside and out for a yacht of this type.  Because of its avant-garde characteristics, the SP110 received the Compasso d’Oro 2024 from ADI – Associazione per Disegno Industriale – an important award celebrating virtuous design uniting quality, innovation and cultural impact. Not to mention that just a few days ago, Sanlorenzo announced that the sixth unit in this range has received the first certificate in the world for “Digital Yachting” from RINA, marking a new chapter in the company’s efforts in digitally transforming and innovating the boating industry.
