Daily Nautica’s lens focused on the megayacht Illusion, which we saw anchored off the coast of Portofino. The m/y Illusion is a 65 metre long megayacht, built by Heesen Yachts, in the Netherlands and delivered in 2013, then completely refitted in 2019.

The sun deck, with its 106 square metres, is an oasis of peace that is appreciated by all passengers. For relaxing there are two lounge areas, one in the sun and the other in the shade, a fully equipped bar and a large jacuzzi surrounded by sun loungers. Even on the windiest days, the sun deck remains comfortable thanks to the screens that shelter the outdoor dining area, allowing it to be used in any weather.

Although the sun deck has an irresistible allure, the heart of the Illusion, that we were also able to admire in Portofino, is its climate controlled beach club. This extraordinary space, complete with bar, sauna, toilet and shower, offers a singular connection to the water thanks to its 22 square metre swimming platform and the 10 square metre terrace overlooking the water to the left.

The natural light, filtered by the transparent bottom of the pool on the main deck, creates a magical and relaxing atmosphere. Completing the outdoor facilities, the Illusion has another 9 dining areas across the various decks, offering a number of opportunities for socialisation.

Inside, the Illusion continues to amaze with its meticulously curated design by the Bannenberg & Rowell team. The polished steel and leather staircase that connects the main deck with the upper deck, is framed by walls covered in Macassar wood, creating an impactful visual contrast. The main deck has an elegant bar and formal dining room, while the upper deck has a small and intimate sky lounge.

The Illusion can accommodate 12 people in 6 double cabins. The owner’s suite, which is as wide as the entire main deck, has a studio and sliding full height glass doors that open out onto a private balcony for breakfast.

With a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 15, this yacht is the epitome of high performance. The hull, designed by Van Oosannen for optimal efficiency, significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions. In addition, the five zero-speed gyroscopic stabilisers offer unrivalled comfort both during navigation and at anchor.

The megayacht, Illusion that we spotted just off Portofino is used for luxury charter. A week on board in this period starts from 462,000 dollars, plus expenses.
