Spotorno - a small seaside village with a unique climate and beach
Located in the Western Riviera between Punta del Maiolo and Punta del Vescovado, 13 km from the province of Savona, the town of Spotorno extends along the coast with its varied landscapes.
The History of Spotorno
The backbone of the town is the Via Aurelia, which runs along the seaside throughout Liguria, as well as the long sandy beach filled, in the summer, with the umbrellas of the beach properties. Throughout the entire length of the coast is the seaside boardwalk with its gardens and piazzas leading to the historical centre of the village. This has the characteristic narrow alleyways typical of historical centres in Liguria, even though the historical centre of Spotorno is less confusing than many other Ligurian villages. The alleys, in addition to cafes and a number of restaurants, are also home to a number of artisan shops including those where the ceramics of Albisola are made.
Visiting Spotorno
Behind the village are the hills covered with vineyards, olive groves, and Mediterranean shrub flowing into the blue of the sea of Spotorno. The town was awarded the Blue Flag in 2007 for the quality of its beaches and the purity of its water, unmistakable for its transparency. To keep in mind for your holiday in Spotorno are the various trails of the inland, with a variety of areas like, for example, Le Manie where it is possible to enjoy relaxing walks surrounded by nature, as well as enjoy the local cuisine in the various locales and restaurants open year round. There are many Genoese who come on Sunday mornings to enjoy lunch in the countryside with their friends in this very characteristic location.
