We went on board the Baltic 117 Perseverance at the latest iteration of the Monaco Yacht Show.
The Baltic 117 Perseverance is a boat with a classic style and a modern approach, with particular attention paid to efficiency thanks to elements like “intelligent” cabins, designed to automatically reduce energy consumption when they are not in use, and an electric propulsion system. These are just some of the characteristics of the Baltic 117 Perseverance, which was shown to us by Kenneth Nyfelt, Sales Director for Baltic Yachts, a well known Finnish shipyard.
“Perseverance – explained Kenneth Nyfelt – was designed by naval architecture studio Dykstra and the interiors are by deVosdeVries. We have a very classic exterior, while all the onboard systems are high tech and focus on green systems. We have an energy savings system and an efficient propulsion system that uses regeneration, so when we are sailing we harvest energy from the water for the battery.”
The Baltic 117 Perseverance, with a displacement of little over 100 tonnes and deep gunwales, is a fast and comfortable sailing yacht, perfect for long cruises. “The boat – noted the Sales Director for Baltic Yachts – is built in carbon fibre with epoxy resins. So it is very light, it has a displacement of 103 tonnes, a lifting keel and a furling boom for the mainsail and winches for the main sheet and halyard.”
The yacht was designed with an owner’s suite to the bow and three double guest cabins, and can hold up to 6 crew members lodged in three cabins in the stern. The interiors are bright and airy with “industrial chic” elements designed by deVosdeVries.
“The interior – Kenneth Nyfelt shared with Daily Nautica – has contrasting colours: we have light grey varnished oak and then darker varnished maple. The ceilings are painted in white, divided into three dedicated areas with a darker centre. The upper part of the saloon is very comfortable with seating for travelling comfortably even in choppy water.”
The Baltic 117 Perseverance is also equipped with an underwater anchoring system monitored by camera, adding a further element of control when lowering anchor or sailing close to the coast.
