On this type of vessels, the kW needed for on-board services, also known as “hotel services”, never seem to be enough. Air conditioning on day and night, kitchens, electric ovens, stabilisers and any accessory that uses electricity forcing the generators to remain on, not only while sailing, but also in roads, maybe even while admiring the Gulf of Capri.
Keeping generators on all the time means high power consumption, noise pollution, vibrations and emissions polluting the surrounding air, which is most noticeable at night and when the vessel is in roads. Now these inconveniences have a solution, thanks to a new and revolutionary product by Sealence, the Italian company known for its Deep Speed electric propulsion.
The “Sealence Hotel System” has been created to supply energy to the vessel for at least 12 hours, in complete silence and with zero emissions. No more vibrations, buzzing, or smells, therefore, and all of this without having to give up using and keeping on all the utilities on board.
The system at the base of this new product is an innovative powerbank fireproof, available in the sizes 80, 160 and 320 kWh, supplying power to all of the ship’s services and that, when running low, has an equally innovative charging system that will fully recharge the system in only 20 minutes. All of this can also be achieved in the open water, with no need to connect to ground electricity.
Until now, in order to obtain a similar function, there was a need to use fuel-cell systems and hydrogen tanks, with all the risks and problems tied to the distribution of hydrogen. Comparing the technical data of current fuel-cell systems with the new “Sealence Hotel System”, it seems like it is the winner on all points: weight, bulk, ease of use and purchase and management costs, without forgetting the simplification that comes from not using hydrogen.
The innovative “Hotel System” by Sealence will be presented during the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe in Amsterdam from 21 to 23 June. Another great step forward in Sealence’s mission to bring the green winds of change in the boating industry.
