The electric catamaran Sunreef 43M Eco, the biggest in the world in its category, is taking shape. Sunreef Yachts, a Polish shipyard based in Gdansk, is specialised in solar powered multihulls, and have completed the infusion process for the composite hull, built in a single working phase.

Innovation on the Sunreef 43M Eco

The hull of the Sunreef 43M Eco, 43 metres long and 15.4 metres wide, for an overall surface area of 1700m2, has a foam core, designed specifically to reduce the vessel’s weight while also maximising performance. The final shell will incorporate 120m2 of integrated solar panels, over a total of 250m2 distributed over the entire catamaran: a “solar skin” that, combined with electric propulsion, will redefine sailing as ecological, clean and efficient, as well as the result of responsible design.

We have reached an important part of our journey – explains Francis Lapp, founder and president of Sunreef Yachts – focusing on the construction of a truly innovative yacht. The reach of the infusion design of the Sunreef 43M Eco catamaran is unique for this type of vessel and highlights our pioneering role in shaping the future of highly energy efficient pleasure boating.

In addition to being solar, the Sunreef 43M Eco catamaran will also be equipped with a hydrogeneration system, which will supply continuous clean energy during navigation, with no atmospheric emissions. The accumulator will use solid state batteries with a 1Mwh capacity.
