Daily Nautica interviews Carlo Vinelli, superyacht coordinator for the Isle of Man Ship Registry, an international ship and superyacht registry
The Isle of Man Ship Registry, one of the best known ship and superyacht registries in the world, represents the British flag and is a guarantee of quality for its clients. With the launch of their new YET scheme (Yacht Engaged in Trade), Isle of Man reinforces their international postilion as industry leader and, to showcase the high quality standards of their services, they were present at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025. During the event, Daily Nautica interviewed Carlo Vinelli, superyacht coordinator for the company.
Quality and safety
The Isle of Man is a Crown Dependency located in the Irish Sea, and its ship register is a part of the larger Red Ensign Group, which not only works with yachts, but with every type of vessel, for both passengers and transport, setting increasingly high standards.
“The code of the Red Ensign Group – explains Carlo Vinelli to Daily Nautica – is an industry benchmark: as Isle of Man we work on the development and maintenance of the highest quality and safety standards for our vessels. At the moment we have a large number of private and commercial yachts registered.”
The new YET Scheme
“In Monaco – adds the superyacht coordinator for the isle of Man Ship Registry – we have mainly been focusing on the new YET Scheme, which we recently launched, and it will be a real game changer for many of our clients.”
The Yacht Engaged in Trade scheme allows yacht of 24 metres or longer to undertake chartering activities in the waters of France, Greece and Monaco, for a maximum of 84 days a year. This helps to support brokers, managers and service suppliers both in Europe and America, reinforcing the position of the isle of Man Registry as a leading jurisdiction for those who want to charter in EU waters, all while respecting the strictest international standards.
