In the heart of the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, among some of the top international businesses, we met with Pietro Cappiello, vice-president of CMC Marine, a leading Italian company in electric stabilizers. With twenty years’ experience behind them and over 3000 yachts fitted, CMC Marine continues to lead technological innovation in the superyacht industry.
“With the new LR 2050 we are redefining stabilization on super yachts of 70-80 metres,” explains Cappiello to Daily Nautica, underscoring the importance of the new range presented during the Monaco Yacht Show. This is the largest stabilization system ever produced by CMC Marine, designed for large yachts, where efficiency, silence and precision are essential prerequisites.
Italian excellence with a global reach
Founded in 2005 in Pisa, CMC Marine was the first company in the world to develop a fully electric stabilization system, the Stabilis Electra, launched in 2008 and patented across Europe. A record that marked a revolution in navigation stability, reinforcing the company’s presence on international markets.
“Today, our systems are being installed on most of the superyachts built by the largest Italian shipyards, as well as in Northern Europe, the United States, and Asia,” says the vice-president of CMC Marine, noting how a capillary assistance network is one of the company’s strong points.
Continual innovation
Among the new products presented at the Monaco Yacht Show was also the first full-electric steering system available on the market, further cementing CMC Marine’s vocation for nautical electrics. “We were pioneers in supplying fully electric systems between 2008 and 2010 – notes Cappiello – and today, we are also bringing that vision into manoeuvring and control systems.”
Particular attention has also been paid to sustainability and energy efficiency. One of the most welcomed innovations of 2025 has been the Energy Recovery System, developed in partnership with suppliers and clients. “This is a solution – shares Cappiello – created to recover energy while the yacht is at anchor, reducing the load on the generator and improving consumption efficiency.” Inspired by the KERS system in Formula 1, this device modulates energy needs and reduces power spikes by up to -30%, contributing to a greener and more silent navigation.
Next stops: from Cannes to Amsterdam
After Monaco, CMC Marine have confirmed they will be participating in other industry events. “Weeks ago – remembers the vice-president – we were in Cannes where we presented our new solutions, and in November, we will be in Amsterdam for the METSTRADE, one of the most important technology events”.
CMC Marine therefore reiterates its role as a point of reference for marine stabilization, but also as an active player in the sustainable transformation of boating, where electric represents the future.
