Lavagna is an ancient seaside town, in the province of Genova, a pleasant swimming destination dedicated in particular to pleasure boating, also thanks to its temperate climate and closeness to Portofino, as well as the Eastern Riviera, including Sestri Levante and the Cinque Terre.
Visiting Lavagna
Lavagna has a historical centre in which visitors can see the recently restored Medieval Tower, the Church of Santo Stefano which is home to the Crucifixion by Domenico Piola, and the Seventeenth-century Palazzo Franzoni. The town is particularly dedicated to boating tradition. In addition to having one of the largest tourist ports in Liguria, the town is also full of shipyards: Alalunga Cantieri Navali Spertini S.r.l., Cantieri Navali Lavagna S.r.l, and artisans specialised in boating trades. There are also a number of boating maintenance companies, like Cantieri Sangermani, C.A.R.M , Costruzioni Navali Tigullio. The pier, which is a public area, allows owners to entrust repair works to different companies, except for towage and launch, which are supplied by the company, Castagnino.
