The super yacht version of the new 28.5m displacement design commissioned by Italian Vessels from the designer Tommaso Spadolini, Wide Space has been created with a focus on marine ability and further comfort compared to its fibre glass cousins. A second model, named Enjoy, will instead be inspired by the explorer vessels.
A steel and aluminium design which introduces the world to the Italian Vessels shipyard, borne from the acquisition by the Parigi family of the historic Cantieri Navali di Termoli and their system, production and design upgrades, this motor yacht is based on a hull design created by Umberto Tagliavini.
“I have known the CEO and founder of Italian Vessels, Mario Parigi for many years – explains the designer Tommaso Spadolini – and I was pleased when, together with his two children, he asked me to design this new project. The aim was to launch this business, working in the shipbuilding and maintenance industry for over twenty years, with over 200 vessels under its wing, from tugboats to trawlers, through to super yachts.”
Both solutions have four cabins with bathroom on the lower deck, and an owner suite with walk-in wardrobe and living area on the main deck to the stern. But the explorer version has the superstructure moved to the bow, so as to leave more space to the stern for a tender or other vehicles for travel or leisure.
Wide Space stands out instead for its typical super yacht profile, with a longer upper deck on the stern. In addition to the main living area, the bridge deck is also home to a large sky lounge behind the wheelhouse. The kitchen is located on the main deck, with direct access to the crew area: two cabins (one for the commander) at the bow of the lower deck. A third cabin for the staff could also be created from the common area for the sailors.
In addition, in place of the traditional garage for a tender, in the stern has been created a stowage space for various equipment. The support boat can be stored on a hydraulic platform, that rises and lowers to simplify towage and launch. A further MOB tender, or a jet ski can be parked on the bow, in addition to a dedicated seating area for guests. The interior stands out for a balanced, minimalist design, which is declined in the warm colours and brightness of the wood, leather and natural fabrics.
Currently under construction, Wide Space is equipped with a wing station for optimal visibility during manoeuvres and 560 horsepower MAN motors for a maximum speed for 13 knots (10 knots cruising speed). It has an autonomy of over 3 thousand nautical miles at standard speed.
