The light inundating every room, from the owners cabin to the medical office on board, redefines the concept of pleasure and sea living. This is the essence of the new hybrid giga yacht by Benetti, FB272 M/Y “Luminosity”, a glass palace in movement, gifting an unparalleled view that is continuously changing depending on the surrounding area.

The spectacular exterior design of the giga yacht comes from the partnership between Zaniz Jakubowski, Andrew Langton and Giorgio M. Cassetta, while the interior is designed by Zaniz Jakubowski. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Luminosity is 107.6 metres long and 17 metres wide. It is the second of three giga yachts over 100 metres long to have been built during the “Benetti Giga Season”

Wrapped in over 800 square metres of windows that surround the Main Deck, “Luminosity” has become a world record boat for Benetti. The windows, 3 metres high, are completely uninterrupted and give the yacht a feeling of being suspended over the sea. The straight bow, guarantees great credentials in terms of watertight seal and a wide area on the front deck offers passengers a fascinating observation point to enjoy navigation and relax.

The main deck, a level below, offers further space for conviviality and open air dining in sheltered and shaded areas of the the splendidly designed superstructure. On the upper deck is the wheelhouse and a level further up, a private deck leading to the helicopter platform, certified for models like the Bell 429.

The spaces on this deck are so flexible that they can currently host two cars on board including a Rolls Royce Phantom, and 24 foot sailboat and two motorcycles. To the stern of the yacht, the decks rise in perfectly balanced ledges, each one with a different configuration for the lounge and relaxation areas.

HYBRID GIGA YACHT

The generator/propulsion set is made up of six generators of approximately 1,000 KW each. The management of this energy is entirely entrusted to a sophisticated and fully integrated system, which supports all services on board, and the electric engines of the two 2,200 KW Azipods.

The electricity turnover is also used to charge 36 tonnes of batteries, sufficient to maintain the function of the vessel for 12 hours without the generator, an enormous commodity when the yacht is at anchor with no ground electricity.

This propulsion package is, at the moment, one of the most advanced and was created, under the coordination of the Benetti technical office, by some of the most important players in the industry: Caterpillar, Seastema, ABB. The advantage of this system is cruising without vibrations and in complete silence, so much so that passengers will hardly realise they are sailing.

The air conditioning system and the cooling units – supplied by H&H – are among the biggest ever installed in a yacht of this size with a total capacity of 3,000KW. The yacht is also equipped with an excess heat recovery system capable of supplying the vessel and saving electricity in line with the most recent green protocols.

Lastly, “Luminosity” also has an advanced Lutron domotics system with approximately 500 kilometres of cables crossing the hull and superstructure.

LIGHT INUNDATES LUMINOSITY

The large 3 metre high windows, that inundate the space with light create a perfect dialogue with the outside, and are the main characteristic of the interior of the FB272. The skylight on the Sun Deck level fills the yacht with light  along its longitude, creating a waterfall of light along the 18 metre staircase covering five of the six decks of the “Luminosity”.  The steel and tempered glass make the entire structure look of a flowing sculpture.

The interiors are elegantly proportional and the sun enters from every angle, reflecting on all the glass surfaces and creating a great play of light. The interior and exterior spaces dialogue through the colours and materials of the textiles, furniture and accessories used.

One of the VIP cabins and its private living room, visually connected by 9 metre-long sliding windows, extends along the stern of the Bridge Deck. A moon of white onyx, 3 metres in diameter, illuminates this elegant suite covered in malachite, lapis lazuli and black marble from Belgium.

The owner’s deck, a level under the Bridge Deck, surrounded by the large 3 metre windows, typical of the “Luminosity”, is characterised by a constantly changing view. The access to the owner’s cabin is from a long corridor decorated with panels made from ten different types of marble. The owner’s private space is defined through the use of granite, with the bed that can be raised by 80cm to allow for a better view from the window.

Behind the headboard, what appears to be another incredible view outside, is actually a virtual window that, through a hidden camera, projects the magnificent view from the bow of the FB272. The walk in wardrobe leads to a massage room and bathroom. On this deck are another three suites for guests, the private office for the owner with an ensuite bathroom and separate office for personal assistants.

The large and welcoming lounge area of the Main Deck is characterised by unique design elements, created specifically to improve the relaxation of the passengers. On the same deck are three splendid cabins, that are each different in their use of materials and design. Further towards the bow is the garage for the tender, created and designed to house personalised tenders and water toys like the 40-foot Limousine tender, another 40-foot landing craft and a further 40-foot tender, all made specifically for the FB272.

On the Lower Deck, the magnificent hall leads to the staircase and lift, in addition to which are four sumptuous suites. The guests, who spend most of their time on this deck, can enjoy the use of a spa, a gym, and a wellness centre, complete with sauna and Turkish bath.

The wellbeing area and gym are located right on the waterline and when the lateral hold doors are open, a spectacular view can be had, while enjoying the sea breeze. On this deck is also the beautiful 30m2 pool, and is an enchanting relaxation area which in the evening is transformed into a dance floor, with the bottom of the pool rising up.

The crew area can hold 37 people and is separate and equipped with a large kitchen and dining area. Designed according to PYC (Passenger Yacht Code) classification, the creation of spacious and comfortable crew quarters, with large and comfortable cabins, is a point of pride for Benetti.

ONBOARD ENTERTAINMENT

FB272 is equipped with two 3.5 metre satellite dishes to receive channels from all parts of the world and fibre optic cables to bring them across the entire vessel.  Where fibre optic cables were not considered appropriate, Cat 8 cables were used: a super-fast connection, which has been installed on a yacht of this size for the first time.

Two server racks allow the yacht to offer a vast musical and film selection, FB272 has a total of 74 HD televisions on board (70 televisions + 4 movie projectors) and 10 intelligent mirrors, with touchscreen and internet connections. The 5G connection on board ensures that the systems will not become obsolete any time soon.

On board is also a latest generation medical centre to help with illness and injuries, offering passengers privacy and tranquillity.
