MSC Grandiosa in La Spezia and MSC Seashore in Genova: this is the week of “first encounters”.
The port of La Spezia welcomed the MSC Grandiosa, which arrived for the first time in the Ligurian port on Tuesday 3 August, with over 3 thousand cruise passengers. The flagship of MSC Cruises, one of the most technologically and environmentally advanced ships in the world, will stop in the port of La Spezia every Tuesday for 14 weeks, until the end of the summer season (2 November), during its weekly cruises in the western Mediterranean, including, in its itinerary, stopovers in Civitavecchia, Valencia, Barcelona and Genova.
Over the next three months, the Ligurian port will see over 40 thousand tourists brought by MSC Cruises, who will admire the beauty of the city and its surrounding area, thanks to the many “protected” excursions, discovering the most characteristic places in La Spezia and charming locations such as the Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre, Castello di San Giorgio, or for a tour of the historic city of Sarzana.
“We are particularly proud – declared Leonardo Massa, Managing Director for MSC Cruises – to return to La Spezia with one of the pride and joys of our fleet, a testament to the centrality of the Ligurian port in MSC Cruises’ growth strategy, who has decided to invest in this city, together with some of our partners, in the construction of an innovative cruise terminal.”
“La Spezia – added Massa – represents a cruising destination of primary importance and with incredible potential, thanks to the many tourist and cultural attractions that it has and the charming locations surrounding it. As further proof of the belief we have in this city, I would like to highlight that next year our presence will increase, reaching 38 stopovers, for a total of approximately 150 thousand passengers.”
THE FLAGSHIP MSC SEASHORE DEBUTS IN GENOVA
On Sunday 8 August, instead the MSC Seashore will début in the port of Genova, delivered on 26 July by the Fincantieri shipyard, for its maiden voyage and until 31 October, it will offer 7 night cruises with stopovers in the Italian ports of Genova, Naples and Messina, in addition to La Valletta in Malta, Barcelona in Spain and Marseilles in France.
The MSC Seashore is the biggest ship ever built in Italy by Fincantieri and the new flagship of MSC Cruises. Genova will be its home port, as well as the main port for MSC Cruises globally. On Sunday morning, on board the ship, the official presentation to the press and local authorities will be held, with a speech by Leonardo Massa.
In summer 2021, MSC Cruises has deployed 6 ships in the Mediterranean. In addition to the MSC Grandiosa, in the Western Mediterranean there is the MSC Seaside and the new company flagship, MSC Seashore. In the Eastern Mediterranean are the MSC Orchestra, MSC Splendida and MSC Magnifica, with a series of itineraries departing from Trieste, Monfalcone and Bari, and stopovers in Pireus (Athens) and in some of the most beautiful Greek islands, in Kotor (Montenegro), Dubrovnik and Split (Croatia).
On all MSC Cruises ships, the rigorous “Health and Safety Protocol” is in place, formulated by the company together with Italian authorities and approved by the Technical Scientific Committee, allowing them to take on, from August 2020 to the present, a number of passengers in complete safety. Of particular note: all journalists and guests participating in the presentation of the MSC Seashore in Genova, will need to take a PCR test, even if they are already vaccinated.
