It is finally in the water, the 36 metre PHI Phantom, a vessel built by Alia Yachts in order to become the “shadow” of the much larger PHI mother ship, 58 metres of “muscular” design, reinterpreted here in a smaller version. Even though this is only from a size point of view, because the functions and technical capabilities of the service vessel are impressive.

Wanted by its owner to follow, like a ghost, hence its name, the main yacht, PHI Phantom has a similarly imposing aspect, highlighted by its decisive lines and edges, in addition to the special opaque “stars & stripes blue” varnish on its hull.

The exterior style – explains the yacht designer, Cor D. Roveris perfectly in harmony with the mother ship. We simply studied the DNA of PHI, and recreated it through the use of organically curved lines, contrasting black and blue surfaces, and flanks with sharp edges. For as much as it was possible, considering the restrictions of the vessel, we have replicated this DNA.”

A result made even more sculptural through the choice using an aluminium hull with no finish layer between the metal and final coat of paint. In this manner, the connecting lines of the shape are visible, highlighting the perfect welding performed by the Turkish shipyard.

Fast and hydrodynamic, thanks to two Cat C-32 engines, guaranteeing 11 knots at cruising speed and 21 at maximum, and also thanks to the patented Fast Displacement XL® hull, by naval architecture studio  Van Oossanen, PHI Phantom can be considered for all effects and purposes, according to Perry Van Oossanen, “a chaser yacht.” “The extra length – notes the designer – is translated into extra space on the deck, which is the main objective of a service yacht and adds versatility, efficiency and comfort.

A 9 metre HS Marine crane is the main focus for onboard organisation: it is through this that vehicles and equipment are moved to be stored on the open aft deck. Included in these is a 12.3 wooden vessel made specifically by Spirit Yachts, with the name Spirit of PHI, a small sail boat, an electric car, water skis, electric bikes for the road and racing, surf boards, and even an inflatable slide.

In addition, PHI Phantom can extend the travel autonomy of the mother ship with further fuel supplies. On board an additional laundry room resolves the laundry management issue, as PHI has many passengers. Three cabins are home to the crew and a larger cabin, with a workspace area, is available for any eventual guides or special visitors.
