The origins of Astondoa in the world of nautical life begin in 1916, when in a small carpentry shop in Portugalete the brothers Jesús and José Astondoa Martínez began to build rowing boats and trawlers. In 1944, his son Jesús Astondoa Santamaría joined the family business, shortly after taking charge of the shipyard. Their good work in riverside carpentry, as well as the quality of the finishes on Astondoa boats, make the shipyard worthy of national fame.
In the decades of the 60s and 70s, Astondoa began its conversion towards the construction of pleasure boats, which began to stand out for their expertise as shore carpenters. Thus, its services are beginning to be required on the Levante coast to build wooden boats of about 33 meters in length. The search for a more prosperous future made Jesús Astondoa move the shipyard to the Alicante city of Santa Pola (year 1978) to be located in the center of the Spanish Mediterranean. Already in the Alicante town, Jesús Astondoa’s children (3rd generation) join the shipyard.
At the beginning of the 80s, Astondoa abandoned wood production and began to produce boats with polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass. This advance in production techniques, together with well-designed models, establishes them as a reference shipyard at the European level. Astondoa reflects the versatility of its customization in the second model of the exclusive “Coupe” sports line, the 377 Coupe also in its outboard version.
Avant-garde
The hull design of the Astondoa 377 Coupe outboard is clean, with aerodynamic angles. The bold inverted arch is ready to navigate turbulent waters. The three-dimensional hull emphasizes the elongated volume of the boat and its beam of 3.56 meters gives it robustness and stability.
Spacious inside and out
Compact yet spacious, the 377 Coupe outboard’s teak decks provide easy access all around. The helm station seats the captain and two other passengers, and provides shade to the aft bench (with a sliding cooler) on the rear deck. A table has been conveniently placed between the aft benches, this space can also be configured as a lounge with a full terrace.
The backrest of the rear bench joins the backrest of a luxurious 3-person sun pad on the aft deck, which opens to the teak swim platform. This area joins the large garage designed to transport water toys and allow access to the motor. Another sunshade in the bow is situated in front of another teak seat that also houses the docking and anchoring equipment, below. The 377 Coupe outboard offers numerous storage possibilities, under the seats, made of soft synthetic leather, and in several hidden compartments in the handcrafted cabinets.
Technology
The cockpit is equipped with a modern console, with instrumentation and multifunction touch screens, leather steering wheel, optional bow thruster, optional joystick controls, a sound system ideal for entertainment and a windshield that protects passengers and the navigation equipment. Behind the helm is an outdoor kitchen, with grill, refrigerator and sink, designed for preparing meals outside, as well as an extraordinarily large hatch to access the cockpit.
Inside
Inside the 377 outboard Coupe, very spacious as well as functional, we find the living room/cabin equipped with its refrigerator and audio/TV system. It is complemented by a generous toilet, exceptional for its length. A second cabin, for two people, completes the interior of the boat.
