During this edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival, Amer Yachts received one of the most prestigious awards in the international yachting panorama: the special award in the Custom Yachts category of the World Yachts Trophies, celebrating its 25th year this year.
This award was given to the design of their first steel 41-metre, currently in pre-launch, designed by Luiz de Basto, one of the most famous architects in the world of yacht design. The awards ceremony took place during the traditional gala evening organised by World Yachts Trophies during the French show, one of the most important events in Europe for luxury vessels.
“It is truly satisfying – says Barbara Amerio, CEO of the shipyard – I am pleased that the design of our first steel vessel has already received such important recognition. In order to build it we have had to overcome challenges in both engineering and design, to create a yacht the unties exceptional technology and aesthetics with a sensible reduction in consumption, compared to other boats in its category. A result which we achieved thanks to our employees, who dream and work together with us without fail, our partners, suppliers, and the great Italian workforce, which makes even the impossible possible.”
This challenge also included propulsion. “Adapting a smart engine like the IPS40 to a steel vessel over 40 metres long – explains Rodolfo Amerio from Amer Yachts – is an important step in a job that we have been working on for over ten years, even through the scepticism of many. For us, a contemporary vessel needs to be able to sail smoothly and quickly, providing both owners and crew with as much freedom as possible. Real research and real innovation for pleasant sailing: that how we work, and have fun, in Amer.”
