The of the top boating companies, Baglietto, Floating Life, and Volvo Penta, have combined forces for a new project, the sale of which has been announced by the Ligurian shipyard” a full custom 48m yacht (hull number 10277), expressly commissioned by its owner to travel around the world.
“We are pleased – says Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer for Baglietto – to be renewing our constructive partnership with Floating Life. This new project underscores the great flexibility of this shipyard and its vocation for custom vessels with a high technology content, as can be seen in the partnership with Volvo Penta for the latest propulsion system.”
Baglietto, Floating Life and Volvo Penta: design and engineering for extreme navigation
The design stands out for its strong identity and technical characteristics, which are fundamental for longterm navigation in extreme environments and elevated latitudes. The hull and naval engineering, developed by Floating Life with the partnership of Zero13 and supervision of Baglietto, are focused on obtaining ICE CLASS ID classification.
“Partnerships with companies like Baglietto and Volvo Penta – says Andrea Pezzini, co-founder and director of Floating Life – makes us very proud. This custom 48m design is a concrete example of our interpretation of the tailor-made concept: accompanying the owner in defining his dream through every phase, from technical development to defining the layout. A philosophy which has led us to open our new, New Build Division.”

With a streamlined hull to reduce resistance while sailing, the superyacht ensures reduced consumption of up to 30% and has an autonomy of over 5000 nautical miles.
The interior is also by Floating Life in partnership with Satura Studio. The layout creates a continuous dialogue between interior and exterior and is comfortable, with warm natural materials and natural patterns. The panoramic saloon on the main deck has 360° windows, the lower deck is open space from bow to stern (with the engine room located in the under lower deck), and transparent staircases connecting the different levels of the super yacht.
Highly innovative design
A crucial element of this super yacht is the propulsion system, entrusted to the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform, considered to be the most advanced currently available on the market for larger pleasure yachts.
“We are proud – notes Nicola Pomi, vice-president of the yacht and superyacht divisions of Volvo Penta – to be partners with Baglietto and Floating Life. The design for the new 48m equipped with the innovative Volvo Penta Professional Platform system marks a fundamental step in the evolution of superyachts: it combines innovation and efficiency, providing superior performance for long distance cruises. It is a clear demonstration of how, by working together, we can redefine the future of high-end sailing.”
The platform provides an improved navigation experience in terms of efficiency, performance and control, through its fully integrated architecture, from helm to propeller. A dual power input also allows for the combination of different energy sources, guaranteeing maximum flexibility and operational redundancy, even in complex scenarios.
Among the smart functions is the Eco Mode which streamlines engine functions: during cruising or manoeuvres, it can disactivate two of the four engines, reducing consumption and emissions, increasing the time between maintenance services and ensuring improved silence on board. The compact equipment creates more space in the engine room, allowing for more living space fo the owner, his guests and the crew.
Launching the custom tender
The design also includes a further distinctive element, an innovative tender launch and recovery system (10m long). Created by the owner’s team, which was inspired by the towing systems of the older Italian shipyards from the 1940s and 1950s, this modern take creates a novel yet extremely functional solution. The mechanism, developed in partnership with Besenzoni , has a retractable platform to launch and recover the tender directly from the water, quickly and safely.
