During the latest edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, which took place at the end of September, Daily Nautica met with Claudia Casalis, lawyer and partner of law firm, Robert Allen Law based in Miami and Palm Beach. The law firm, founded in 1993 by Robert N. Allen Jr., is now one of the most internationally recognised for boating, commercial and real estate law.

With a smile that emanates enthusiasm and professionalism, Casalis shares her experience with us during the Monaco show. “This is out tenth year participating in the Monaco Yacht Show – she explains to DN – and we believe it is the best boat show in Europe. Her words underscore the special ties Robert Allen Law has built with the European boating industry, a bridge connecting shipyards, brokers, and international investors with the American market.

A legal point of reference between Miami and the Mediterranean

Robert Allen Law is known for its “concierge level” approach – a highly personalised service that unites excellence, precision and active listening. “We represent buyers, sellers, lenders and banks – shares Casalis with DN – in purchasing and selling yachts, but we also work with shipyards wanting to establish a presence in the United States and to sell to American and Latin American clients.

Behind each case, is a team of professionals working on clear communication, understanding the clients’ business and which is skilled at finding solutions based on experience. “Our objective – says Casalis – is to become an essential part of our client’s team, contributing to their strategy and company planning.

Superyachts and maritime finance: an evolving sector

In her daily work practice, Claudia Casalis works closely with superyacht transactions and financing, working with American banks, ship builders and international brokers. Her work also includes guaranteed maritime finance, with multi-million-dollar loans and lines of credit for fleets, known as “yacht floor plan credit facilities”. The firm works internationally representing clients in over 20 countries, from Europe to South America. Some landmark projects have also included negotiating with foreign governments and developing private island destinations for important cruise companies.

A human and global approach

What makes Robert Allen Law stand out is their human approach and relationships, based on listening and deeply understanding the client’s needs. The firm includes a multi-lingual team (English, Spanish, Italian) that works with clients through every phase of the transaction, with a global vision, but also with a careful eye on details that only a law firm can have. Founded on values of ethics, balance and professionalism, Robert Allen Law has, over time, built a solid reputation in luxury yachting. Their connection with the sea is natural and is the thread that binds all the cases worked on by the firm.
