Daily Nautica interviews Erna Rusi, CEO for Saxdor Yachts, a brand that continues to grow through design and innovation

Saxdor Yachts, a Finnish brand based in Helsinki, participated in the 65th edition of the Genova Boat Show, with their latest vessel, the Saxdor 400 GTS, launched during the Cannes Yachting Festival. Over the past five years, Saxdor has become one of the fastest growing boating brands in the world and is continuing to expand. Daily Nautica interviewed Erna Rusi, CEO for Saxdor, to find out what is behind this success.

The Saxdor fleet

We are the fastest growing boating brand in the world – notes Erna Rusi – we started from zero and in five years we have reached an estimated turnover of 175 million for this year. At the moment, the company has around a thousand employees, but we want to grow even more next year and plan to start working on larger vessels next year.

The Saxdor fleet currently has 9 models, all ranging from 20 to 40 feet. To date, the brand’s best seller has been the Saxdor 320 GTO, which continues to be their flagship product. Three years ago, they introduced the 400 range, which was welcomed by the public for its perfect combination of size and excellent market value. The latest model of the Saxdor 400 Series, the 400 GTS, is an evolution of the 320 GTO, and for this reason it aims to become the brand’s new best-seller.

New technology standards

The brand, created by Sakari Mattila, founder of companies like Aquador, Paragon, XO Boats and Axopar, is now known for their focus on innovation, and for a design that has redefined technology standards in the industry, leading to its success.

Mattila – explains the CEO of Saxdor – has been able to capture something that speaks to the entire market: a design language that is loved and sought after by everyone. This is what makes us a successful company. We think we have managed to deconstruct the boat in a positive manner, making it more modern, and equipping it with more digital tools. We are not just modern with our ideas, but we want to become the technological leaders of the industry.
