During the Genova Boat Show, Daily Nautica went on board the SAY Carbon 52, flagship for the German shipyard, SAY Carbon Yachts. Taking us on a tour of this new model was Carlos Vassallo, sales manager for the brand, who shared with us the philosophy and innovation that make this boat truly unique.
“We are very proud – explains Vassallo to DN – to present ourselves for the first time on the Italian market with the SAY Carbon 52. Our shipyard builds vessels in full carbon fibre, technology that we bring to yachting after thirty years’ experience in automotive and Formula 1. Carbon fibre is lightweight, very strong and durable, our flagship weighs only 7 and a half tonnes, in spite of its 15 metre length.”
The new model, officially launched during the Palma de Mallorca Boat Show, stands out for its combination of sport-level performance and liveability. “This 52-footer – notes Vassallo – is light and high performing, but at the same time it also has interesting spaces and smooth sailing even during cruising.” The cockpit design, which opens out to the bridge to the aft platform, gives the sensation of being even closer to the water, and improves safety on board.
Technology and comfort
The SAY Carbon 52 has a Volvo Penta diesel power train with three engines and can be equipped with the gyroscopic stabiliser, Seakeeper, guaranteeing comfort even at high speeds. “This is a very easy boat to sail – shares the SAY Carbon Yachts sales manager – capable of 45° turns without excessive lateral force.”
Regarding the interior, the owner’s cabin to the bow has a high glass ceiling which provides plenty of light. The onboard equipment includes Garmin technology with 360°-degree camera system, while the patented hull was developed in partnership with Swedish company, Petestep.
“Our hull – notes Vassallo – guarantees fluid and stable navigation, disproving that image of sports boats bouncing off the waves, thereby creating a balance between performance and comfort, while keeping artisan quality at the heart of our yachts.”
Innovation and vision
The SAY Carbon 52 is not only speed and technology, but also efficiency. With an average fuel consumption of just 45 litres per hour at 20 knots, it is a boat designed to reduce environmental impact. “We invite all enthusiasts – concludes the sales director for the German shipyard – to find out more about the SAY 52 from our distributors or on our website.”
With their philosophy “lighter goes further” SAY Carbon Yachts is aiming to revolutionise the way we enjoy the water, combining lightweight carbon fibre with a refined design and a high performance navigational experience.
