The case of the Force Blue, the 71-metre superyacht which belonged to Flavio Briatore, continues to make headlines. The entrepreneur, according to La Repubblica, has filed for compensation of nearly 13 million euros for the sale of the Force Blue decided by the Court of Appeals of Genova and carried out by a Genoese accountants in the role of judicial administrator.
THE COURT CASE
It all started in 2010, when the Public Prosecutor’s office of Genova seized the yacht while it was off the coast of La Spezia, while the manager was on board with his ex-wife, Elisabetta Gregoraci and their son. The accusation was for tax evasion in the chartering of the Force Blue The luxury vessel was then sold at auction where it was purchased by former Formula 1 magnate, Bernie Ecclestone, for around 7.5 million euros.
In January 2022 the entrepreneur was definitively acquitted by the Court of Appeals, but, in spite of the court victory, he had received no compensation for damages. Briatore is therefore taking the Office of the Prime Minister, along with the judicial administrator, to court for damages of 12 million 660 thousand euros. This amount, according to the entrepreneur, is the difference between the amount the yacht was sold for and its real value.
The damages are being filed against the office of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as per the law of 1988. In the case in which the damages are awarded, the Office of the Prime Minister can then recover their losses against the Magistrates of the Court of Appeals through the Court of Auditors.
