Videoworks, a leading company in designing and integrating systems, present a new security technology suite. Designed to counteract the growing threats of hijacking, hacking and drones, the suite, which integrates the latest technology, and can be installed from the beginning of the yacht design, or adapted after construction, was presented at the Metstrade in Amsterdam.
Physical and digital security is now more important than ever for superyacht owners. For this reason, Videoworks has created a complete range of integrated solutions. In addition to its AV/IT mission *audiovisual and information technology), for which the brand is recognised internationally, the company has also developed a dedicated panic room, integrating a number of advanced security sensors.
Panic Rooms
For yachts over 1500 GT the available space and security needs make creating a panic room a strategic choice. Videoworks has therefore developed a complete package, a base for owners, designers, and shipyards, that guarantees a secure area for personal protection, communication, and a safe space to wait in case of external threats. Advanced CCTV surveillance, through visible and hidden camera, transmits images to the panic room, while redundant power supply systems and secure communication provide autonomy and reliable connections with the outside.
Weapons lockers, remote controls and strategic deterrents can also be integrated. The heart of the system is autonomous power which keeps it functioning even in case of a blackout on board. In addition to personal protection, panic rooms provide concrete advantages for forward-looking owners, like reducing insurance premiums, increased attractiveness for charter, and an increased resale value, as well as a reputation for proactive security.
Security sensors
In addition to standard cameras and infrared, the Videoworks system integrates advanced sensors, like LIDAR, which uses invisible laser bands to precisely measure the distance and position of objects with a range of around 85 metres. The data is then elaborated using an AI security software, that can distinguish, in real time, between authorised and non authorised presence, ignoring movement from animals or passers-by.
It is therefore possible to create a virtual perimeter around critical areas and receive immediate alerts in case of intrusion. For the first time in the yachting industry, floor sensors are used, which can detect and recognise footsteps, hidden under the decking so as not to compromise the aesthetic. Even drone detection can be integrated to monitor and track from the bridge and security console.
Integration and design
Due to the integrations provided by the suite, shipyards and owners no longer need to turn to multiple suppliers. By uniting IT, AV and security system infrastructures, Videoworks collects all the functions into an intuitive platform, that is easy to install and use. The system can also be installed during refit.
“Videoworks – says the CEO, Maurizio Minossi – considers technology not as an accessory, but as an integral part of the yacht design and lifestyle. Our mission is to create easy-to-use systems that provide passenger comfort and keep those on board connected and safe. In addition, we help clients determine which areas are best for each technology solution, working alongside the shipyard and exterior designer.”
“The panic room – adds Minossi – is a new approach to security, therefore it is important to work alongside the interior designer in order to guarantee that the spaces are laid out correctly. Instead, the other elements of the system can be installed afterwards. It is important that the crew understand how to use this technology, for this reason, we strongly support the organisation of dedicated training sessions.”
Neurøise: a new era in the on board AI experience
At Metstrade 2025, Videoworks and NoNoise continued their partnership in creating a platform for generative artificial intelligence, the launch of which is planned for 2026. What was initially an experimental project for AI-based infotainment, transformed into Neurøise by NoNoise, a fully integrated system for the yacht sector that combines artificial intelligence and adaptive storytelling to create personalised and exciting communication experiences.
Videoworks’ contribution regards the visual technology and the entire front-end for the users. This collaboration focuses on a structured and strategic approach, presenting Neurøise as a platform and not just a single product, capable of integrating seamlessly into the on-board systems to interpret, narrate and co-create interactive stories with users. This partnership reinforces both the development of solutions for on-board spaces, as well as the market positioning of both companies.
